DANG IT!

I wanted to see my nephew.

I hate getting sick.  Wednesday, I had a 101.5 temperature.
Yesterday I had a 101.3 fever.  Right now, it's 99.2, but we'll
see as the day goes on.  Yesterday I felt good in the morning too,
and then in the afternoon I was doing poorly again.  I need to get
up and out of the apartment, but I don't need to over exert
myself.  I've been sleeping for about three days now (started
Tuesday night), and my back is killing me from laying down.  I
can't sleep anymore.  I can't lay down.  I don't feel like
moving around, so I'm just sitting up, watching TV.  I should put
a movie in.  There is nothing good on.

I've missed three days of classes.  I'm really not in the mood to
have to make up that much but I didn't have a choice to get sick.
I'm gonna be re-working some things so that I can get more sleep and
won't get worn out again.

Well, I'm off.  My battery is almost dead.  Catch you all when I'm better.

Spring '06

WOO HOO!  Y'all know what that title means?  I've started my
last semester of undergrad at TNU.  That means that I graduate on
May 6th, and the only requirement is that I pass one of the two IT
classes I'm taking (I'm also taking a religion class for credit, and
auditing another one that I am interested in but don't want to do the
homework for).  I'm almost done.  This is such a good feeling.

:: Click :: Goes the Little Silver Camera

I got my new camera in the mail Thursday (Circuit City was all out so
the clerk ordered it and had it shipped directly to my TNU Box).
The Canon Rebel T2 is very nice.  I actually want to take pictures
again.  When my other camera stopped working entirely right, I
lost interest for a little while.  Now I'm getting back into
it.  I just need to sit down and do a lot of reading to understand
a few of the features I've never used or seen before.

Favorite new features (that weren't on my old camera):
built in flash
continuous frame mode (keeps taking pictures as long as I hold the shutter release down)
seven point focus (I can tell it to only focus in one of the zones or
to decide for itself which is best, and I can set it to AI Servo, which
will keep a moving object in focus as I continuously shoot frames while
the object is moving is moving)

I got to head downtown with some friends on Thursday when it got in and
play around with some of the features.  One of these days, I'm
gonna sit down and figure everything out and use it to its
potential.  But for now, I have homework and work to do.

All Work and No Play

Why can't people follow procedure?  Why must they call 5 hours
before an event instead of the 24-48 hours required?  Why do we
keep being soft on them and not simply saying "You were late making
your request, and our procedure states that we cannot fulfill this
request."  I understand that I had plenty of time to set it up in
the 5 remaining hours, but what if someone else had the system
reserved?  These people keep doing this to us over and over and I
want to yell at them.  But I don't.  I set it up and try not
to complain.  I can't wait to get out of here.

Dance the Night Away

As is every Saturday night, tonight is again swing dancing.
McKendree @ 19:30 CST.  I'm gonna have another great evening of
learning and relaxing.  I'm taking the Lindy Focus DVD with me and
I'm gonna see if I can figure out some of the routines on there.
See y'all there!

What the heck?

Y'all know Mt. Olivet Cemetery over on Lebanon Pk. near Fesler's
Lane?  Well they have a sale going on: buy 3 get 1 free.
HELLO!  These are cemetery plots you're selling.  Why do you
have a sale going on like I'm shopping for towels?  The first time
I saw it, I was so surprised I almost needed to pull over and laugh for
a bit.  Then I started thinking about it and reading too much into
it an it's almost cheapening the last rights of anyone on Earth.
"Hey, let's get a discount so when you die we saved some money..."

But then I read a lot into stuff like that with my dad passing
away.  My family had to decided how much to spend on his funeral
and burial.  Mom wanted a cremation, but my brother wanted a
traditional burial even though it is more expensive because in history
burning was not a Christian thing...

Any ways, I miss my dad and wish he was still around.  But I know my heavenly father is taking care of me.

Snowshoe, WV Ski Trip (Part 2)

WOW!  I love this!  I can't believe I've never been
before!  This is so much fun!!!  But my legs are killing me
I really wish I hadn't been too busy to exercise the last half of the
semester.  I would be set for all this if I hadn't.  But I'll
be okay.  This is good for me.  As yesterday, I skied all
morning (10:00 to 13:00 EST).  After doing just about every green
this side of the mountain, I was beat.  Some people I was riding
one of the lifts with was talking about the signs on the lift cable
support towers that said "Own Snowshoe" and how it would be more
accurate to have a sign that said "Owned by Snowshoe" with a picture of
a skier stuck 4 feet into a snow bank.

I haven't done that yet.  In fact, I don't feel like a beginner at
all.  So far, other than falling in line for a lift because I
didn't want to kill the small child in front of me (total falls for the
first day), I have only fallen twice (total for today) and both were on
purpose because my legs hurt so bad after two hours of having to hold
them bent.  This is so much fun!  I got a foot of air off a
bump (not a ramp) and have been speeding down the slopes keeping up
with people who actually know what they are doing.  I'm lovin' it
(yeah, sue me McDonalds, you don't own the English language).

Personally, I Would Say...

I'm happy.  I finally am again.  Sure, I'll have bad days,
but that's life.  I'm finally through something that's been
bothering me this semester, and that's part of why I had such a
wonderful day.  I actually am relaxing and getting 8 hours of
sleep every night.  I don't know how I survived the last semester,
but I did (praise God).  He didn't let me give up.  And for
those of you who didn't know, I almost did.  God kept me
going.  I couldn't deal with my life if I didn't have the hope and
grace God gives.

I needed this break.

In Other News...

I'm officially a geek.  I think I'm the only one of all of us that
actually brought a network cable with his laptop.  Everyone else
expected to use their wireless, and they can if they know how to
configure it (one system is W2K, not easy to set up).  I also have
been borrowing other people's DVDs and watching them.

I love technology.  Infact, so much so that if technology was a
woman... nah, wouldn't marry technology.  Too unstable.  I
need some stability.  I don't want to marry a woman who changes
every 6 months or so.  That would just creep me out.  I think
I could deal with crazy, but constantly changing would just mess with
me.  Who knows, I'm still fine tuning what I'm looking for.
But I won't be marrying technology.

P.S.

I hope you all have been very creeped out by my post.  Or, if you
skipped the last section, are happy that things are finally back to
some form of normal, and my mental state is back to a stable
level.  Boy am I gonna have a lot to tell the psycologist I've
been talking with.  He's about 4 months behind on my life's story
(everyone should go see one at least for a few months to get a better
handle on life and to better understand their own past - it helps).

Snowshoe, WV Ski Trip (Part 1)

This is great.  I had a lot of fun with our several hours of
lessons this morning.  We had breakfast at 09:00 EST and then
Cody and I wound up in the same beginners class at 10:00.  We
practiced until 12:00 when he stopped for a lunch break and I stopped
for the day.  I'm still really under the weather, so my mood
absolutely sucks and I wish I was out on the mountain, but hey, what can
I do?  I rested after lunch for the rest of the day.  Next is
dinner and group devotions.  After that, a bunch of guys are going
out for night skiing, but I'll either watch some more movies or join
the card games that are planned.

The drive over was exhausting because I'm not up to par and I had
motion sickness for the last few hours of the drive (thanks to fast
food I'm not used to and dark windy mountain roads.  Tomorrow I'm
gonna go hit some real runs and practice technique.  Hope you all
are in good health and enjoying the new year.
